Andover Volunteer Fire Department
The Andover Volunteer Fire Department provides the small, Eastern Connecticut town of Andover with Fire and EMS service. We are also members of the Tolland County Dive Team. Our territory includes one of the most dangerous roads in America; the 11 mile stretch of Route 6 from Bolton to Columbia, also known as Suicide 6. Don't become a Suicide 6 statistic. Please drive it with care.

We'll be 75 years old this year and we're celebrating with a Parade and a gathering at the Ball Fields afterwards with food and music.
The celebration will be June 22, 2013.
The parade will begin at 10:30 AM.
The parade route and will start, where else, but the firehouse at 11 School Rd and will turn right down Route 316 (Hebron Rd) to Route 6. From there it will turn left to Long Hill Rd. and end at the ball fields.
The ball fields will be the site of of the food, music, and fun starting around 1 PM or whenever the parade finishes. The band, TRubble, will provide the musical entertainment.
Please check back here for more information. We look forward to seeing you there!

The Department is, and has been for some time, collecting canned goods, non perishable items, and pet food for the Andover Food Pantry. Help your neighbors in need.
Your donations can be brought to the firehouse Wednesday evenings from 7 PM to 9 PM or by calling 860-706-3074.

Two Dads sitting next to each other, waiting to talk to the kids about their careers.
Dad2 - "So you're a firefighter? I wanted to do that when I was a kid. What do you make?"
Dad1 (notice who's Dad1) - "What do I make?"
I make holding your hand seem like the biggest thing in the world when I am cutting you out of your car.
I can make 5 minutes feel like a lifetime when I go into a burning house to save your family.
I make those annoying sirens sound like angels singing when you need them.
I make your wife's head turn when I walk by in uniform.
I make your children breathe after they have stopped.
I can make you survive a heart attack.
I make myself get out of bed at 3am to go risk my life for people I have never met, and have never asked for thanks.
I make a difference. What do you make?"
